Outlaw killed, 12 hurt in gunbattle

An activist of an outlawed party was killed and 15 others were wounded in a gunfight with their rivals at Khordodakhail in Kushtia yesterday.

Sultan Hossain, a member of Purba Banglar Communist Party (PBCP) died while Musa, Rowshan, Mukaddes, Idris, Reaz, Ishrat, Tikka, Afzal, Rezaul, Samaj, Zahurul, and Riazul were injured in an encounter with another outlawed party, Jasad Gono Bahini, locals said.

The clash started at about 4:30am when the PBCP activists attacked a JGB stronghold, locals added.

Sultan died at Kushtia General Hospital in the afternoon and the injured were taken to unknown shelters to avoid arrest, police said.
