Nizami re-elected Jamaat Ameer
Motiur Rahman Nizami, industries minister of the coalition government, has been re-elected Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, Bangladesh for a three-year term.
He will take oath to office after expiry of his present tenure on December 31. He was elected Ameer for the first time in December 2000.
As per the party constitution, an election commission conducted the Ameer election. The central Majlish-e-sura members elected a three-member panel for the Ameer-e-Jamaat election. They are Motiur Rahman Nizami, Abul Kalam Muhammad Yusuf, and party Secretary General and Social Welfare Minister Ali Ahsan Muhammad Mujahid. However, Nizami got the highest 78 votes organising districts of the party, said a press release.
