PM goes to Faridpur September 13

Prime Minister Khaleda Zia is expected to open a rehabilitation centre for women and an orphanage in the district on September 13.

The 100-bed rehabilitation centre for the socially handicapped vagrant women and the 200-bed Shishu Paribar (orphanage) are located at Baitul Aman in the suburb of the town.

Official sources said the projects have been implemented by the Ministry of Social Welfare at a cost of Tk 7.06 crore.

The rehabilitation centre, built at a cost of Tk 4.23 crore, will house 100 vagrant women. They will be given training on embroidery, boutique, poultry and electronics for income generation.

During her visit to the district, the prime minister will also address a public meeting at Boalmari upazila headquarters.

A number of political leaders including former lawmaker Shah Md. Abu Zafar of Bangladesh Jatiya Party are likely to join BNP in the rally, BNP sources here said.
