Bhuiyan urges Hasina to stop 'misleading' campaign
"Sheikh Hasina has been carrying out misleading campaigns since her defeat in the last general elections. She made some more misleading allegations in the past few days," Bhuiyan, also LGRD and Cooperatives minister, said in a statement.
"Her attempts to achieve goals by unfair means are not only unfortunate, but also frightening to the democracy-loving people and those who believe in the rule of law," he said.
Bhuiyan blasted Hasina for her allegation that the government has planned to kill 8,000 opposition leaders and workers including herself. Sometimes, she puts the figure at 9,000.
He said the leader of the opposition frequently alleges that the government killed 24,000 AL workers in the past 23 months and looted Tk 11,000 crore during the period.
"I am challenging the Awami League to come up with the list of 24,000 deaths and evidence of the plan to kill 8,000 to 9,000 people. But I know they can't do it because her allegations are entirely untrue," he said.
On the allegation of looting, Bhuiyan said the BNP was never involved in looting. Instead, it is the Awami League that exhausted the state coffer through embezzlements.
