Hasina blames PM for making JS inactive
"We cannot speak for people in parliament due to autocratic nature of this government," the leader of the opposition said. People will bring her (prime minister) to justice for destroying democracy, she added.
Hasina was addressing a rally at Shyampur in the city yesterday, organised by Demra and Shyampur thana units of her party protesting the killing of Sharif Mohammad Mozammel, general secretary of Ward- 90 unit of the city AL.
She called upon AL leaders and workers to join the ongoing movements of different professional bodies including that of the lawyers against misrule of the government.
The BNP-Jammat-led alliance government has no right to cling to power any more as it has failed to run the country and provide minimum security to people, Hasina said. "Joining hands with people, we will topple the present rulers and bring peace in the country."
The AL chief called upon people to express 'no confidence' in the present government by joining the AL's mass procession on September 15 and observing a countrywide dawn-to-dusk hartal on September 25.
The alliance government is planning to export natural gas, Hasina alleged and urged people to unitedly resist this.
The opposition leader referred to the recent killings of AL leaders and said such killings, persecution and harassment could not foil the movement against the government.
Presided over by Habibur Rahman Mollah, former lawmaker from the area, the rally was also addressed by party leaders Abdur Razzak, Tofail Ahmed, Abdul Jalil, Matia Chowdhury, Mohammad Hanif and Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya.
