Charges pressed against four AL leaders

The accused are Shahid Iqbal Bithar, vice-president of Khulna Jubo League, Birendra Nath Ghose, president of ward No. 23 unit of AL, and Sramik League leaders Mohsin Reza and Arun Kundu.

BNP Lawmaker Ali Asgar Lobi's nephew Ali Abrar Shinu filed an FIR against the four on August 27, accusing them of launching the attack at Lobi's residence after the murder of Khulna city Awami League(AL) President Monzurul Imam.

Sub-inspector Ajmal Huda of Khulna Police Station submitted the chargesheet, stating that the accused kept confined the residents of the house at gunpoint, damaged three private cars and interior of the house, and looted valuables worth Tk 60,000 during the rampage.

Meanwhile, leaders of district and city units of the Jubo League held a press conference yesterday, demanding arrest of the killers of Monzurul Imam. They also demanded withdrawal of the 'false' cases against the four, who were not in Khulna on 25 August, they claimed.
