'Unite against globalisation'

Speakers at a seminar yesterday called upon all left-leaning parties to get united against imperialism and globalisation.

They also stressed the need for formation of classless society in the country.

The seminar on 'Present situation of the country and leftist movement' was organised by Sramik Krishak Samajbadi Dal at the National Press Club.

Veteran Communist leader Nirmal Sen presided over the meeting while Comrade Mosaddeq Hossain Swapan presented the keynote paper.

Swapan said all workers and farmers should be united to form an alternative power to protect the country.

"There is no alternative to left-leaning parties in this regard", he added.

Criticising globalisation, Nirmal Sen said many jute mills including Adamjee Jute Mills have been closed as result of globalisation.

Comrade Morshed Ali said the existing law and order is not in favour of working people.

"Only a leftist movement can protect the rights of the common people," he said.

Comrade Suvranshu Chakrabarty said neither BNP nor Awami League can help people overcome the present crisis.

Rashed Khan Menon, president of Workers Party, said all communist powers should unite against imperialism.

Comrade Tipu Biswas and Abdullah Sarker also spoke at the seminar.
