Token strike for rescue of Jamal
A 10-minute token strike, called by Chattagram Nagorik Forum, is likely to be held in Chittagong today, demanding rescue of the business magnate and BNP leader Jamal Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury.
Jamal Uddin could not be rescued even after twenty-seven days of abduction, causing great resentment and a sense of insecurity among the people here. Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) extended their support to the strike to start from 12 noon.
The CCCI in a press statement yesterday called upon the people of the city to put off their work for 10 minutes. A siren will be blown at 12 noon to remind everyone of the strike, sources said.
