Tying seatbelts to be enforced

The DMP Commissioner, Ashraful Huda, yesterday directed his traffic forces to ensure that the drivers and passengers fasten their seatbelts.

"Most of the injuries and casualties in the accidents take place due to non-fastening of the seatbelt," he said.

The directive came following a decision of the Dhaka Road Safety Council meeting held on July 2 with Communications Minister Barrister Nazmul Huda in the chair.

Meanwhile, the DMP have launched a special drive in the city to check documents of the vehicles.
