HC rejects stay, asks govt why notifications not illegal
The High Court yesterday turned down the prayer seeking stay on government notifications on promotion of deputy secretaries to joint secretaries.
The court however issued rule upon the government to show cause why the notifications should not be declared illegal.
The court also asked the government to explain why the promotion of 170 deputy secretaries to the post of joint secretaries should not be declared unlawful and malafide.
Asad Ahmed, deputy secretary, statistics division, filed the writ petition challenging the legality of the notifications relating to the marking system of the ACR and academic qualification for promotion rules.
Advocate Abdul Wadud Bhuiyan appeared for the petitioner.
