'Steps taken for BDS registration'
In a statement, they said all arrangements have been made so that the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) gives its recognition to BDS course after visiting the department on the campus.
The GB authorities said they initiated the process of admission in 1998 with the approval of the university grants commission (UGC) and the education ministry.
After scrutinising all necessary papers, the UGC and the education ministry approved the Faculty of Health Science of GB that included MBBS, Dental Department, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy and Microbiology, said the statement.
It also claimed that there was no instruction in the letter of the education ministry that separate approval would have to be taken from the health ministry for BDS department.
"When we invited the BMDC inspection team in 2000, they gave approval only to the MBBS and asked us to invite separate team for the BDS", said the GB authorities.
Later that team visited the GB campus but unfortunately they did not inform us any thing about their inspection, the authorities added.
"Recently we have learnt that we are to apply for re-inspection and accordingly we have applied for the same", said the GB authorities.
"We are lobbying with the government with a view to settle the matter of registration smoothly", they added.
