DU students press for cancel of BCS exam, quit of PSC chairman

DU Correspondent
Students of the Dhaka University (DU) yesterday demanded immediate cancellation of the 24th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) preliminary test and resignation of the Public Service Commission (PSC) chairman.

The PSC chairman failed to hold the 24th BCS preliminary tests for the second time which proves that she is unfit for the post, said the agitating students under the banner of 'General Students' at a rally on the DU campus.

They also blocked the road from Teacher Student Centre (TSC) to Shahbagh for an hour.

At the rally, students announced programmes to demonstrate on the DU campus and holding of a press conference today (Thursday) to press home their demands.

Later, they brought out a procession.

Meanwhile, Shariful Kabir Swapan, president, and Ali Hasan Tarun, general secretary of the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), student wing of the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal, protested PSC chairman's statement in a joint statement.

The PSC chairman's decision to publish the test results is unbearable and the PSC authorities will have to bear responsibilities for the consequences, the statement said.

The BCL also expressed solidarity with the ongoing movement of the students for cancellation of the test.

The BCS preliminary test was taken Friday amid allegations of question paper leakage.
