Students of bachelor of dental surgery (BDS) department of Gono Bishwabidyalaya (GB) have sought the intervention of the President to resolve the registration complication of their department immediately.

Addressing a press conference at the National Press Club yesterday, they expressed their deep anxiety about their professional carrier as their department has no registration with the health ministry and approval of Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) although the first batch students of this department are going to complete their course soon.

"We have been deceived by the authorities concerned as they provided us wrong information through prospectus during admission test that the department is recognised by the government," they alleged.

"When a BMDC team came to inspect the university in 2000, we came to know that the BDS department has no registration," said the students.

They also alleged that the GB authorities did nothing regarding the registration other than giving them false assurances.

" We will not be able to take part in final examination even after completing five years as the department has no registration," said the students.

Earlier on August 5, they confined the vice chancellor and the registrar to their rooms on the campus demanding registration.

The students will form a human chain in front the National Press Club and submit a memorandum to the Prime Minister on Sunday to press for their demand.
