BSS, Dinajpur
Police filed a case against about 500 to 600 people of Chirirbandar upazila in Dinajpur yesterday for their alleged involvement in Sunday's clash with police that left one man dead and six injured.

The clash took place at Ranibazar on the Dinajpur-Rangpur Highway when police went there to clear a barricade put up by local people in protest against the arrest of six cattle traders by the members of the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR).

An unnatural death (UD) case was also filed with the Chirirpur Police Station for the killing of Abu Sayeed, 25, son of Abdus Sattar of Nashratpur village in Chirirbandar upazila of the district.

The family members of Abu Sayeed applied for lodging a murder case with the police station.

Meanwhile, former whip Mizanur Rahman Manu condemned the killing at a press conference.

He demanded judicial probe into the killing and immediate departmental action against the BDR and police personnel responsible for the incident.

The local Awami League will bring out a mourning procession today and wear black badges in protest against the killing.
