DCC on arrears collection drive
The Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) has instructed the officials to collect its outstanding revenue of Tk 3 crore by July 31. Otherwise the DCC may not be able to pay salaries to its officials.
The DCC is now in severe financial straits.
Meanwhile, the deputy election commissioner's office will deposit more than Tk 8 lakh with the DCC fund.
The sum is the accumulated deposits forfeited of the contestants in the last DCC election, sources said.
As per election law, the forfeited amount from the DCC election should go to the DCC fund. In the last election 375 candidates' deposits were forfeited.
The deputy election commissioner's office may send Tk 8.07 lakh to the DCC's bank account today.
