25 injured in gangland gunfight at Adamjee
At least 25 people were injured, three with bullets, in a fierce gunfight between two groups of criminals in Adamjee area early yesterday, police said.
They said the two groups -- one led allegedly by Selim and the other by Shah Alam -- fought the hour-long pitched battle beginning at about 5:00am in the gangland turf war.
They traded over 100 gunshots during the fight, striking terror into local residents.
Police arrested nine people -- Al Amin, Goutam, Mostafa, Zakir, Jamal, Al Amin-2, Hamid, Mintu and Khayer -- at the spot after the clash.
The injured including Hasan, Shamsul and Munir who suffered bullet wounds in the shooting, are undergoing treatment at secret places to evade arrest.
