Teenage maid found dead in Uttara

Shahida Akhter, a domestic help in the residence of Golam Sarwar Chowdhury, 2/C at road No. 16, was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) at 12:45pm yesterday, DMCH sources said.

It was said in the inquest report that Shahida might be raped before her death.

But duty officer of the Uttara Police Station denied this allegation.

A person, introducing himself as a detective branch (DB) officer at the DMCH, said Golam Sarwar is brother of a DB officer.

An unnatural death case was filed with the Uttara Police Station.

Meanwhile, a vegetable shop employee in Malibagh died at DMCH yesterday.

Mohammad Khalil, 16, was beaten up by another employee of a neighbouring shop at 6:00pm Wednesday as they locked in arguments.

He was first rushed to Malibagh Community Hospital and later to DMCH.

Khalil succumbed to his injuries at 5:00pm yesterday.

No case was filed till the filing of this report at 8:00pm yesterday.
