One sentenced to life in rape case in Madaripur

The convict is Delwar Hossain Mal of village Ramzanpur in Kalkini upazila of Madaripur.

After examining records and witnesses, Mohammad Sekander Ali, District and Sessions Judge, Madaripur, found Delwar guilty and gave the verdict.

The court also acquitted seven others as the charges brought against them were not proved.

In the case filed with Kalkini Police Station, it was alleged that Nahida Akhter Merina, 20, was gangraped by Delwar and seven others on May 24, 2001 at Ramzanpur village under Kalkini upazila in Madaripur district.

A rape case was filed accusing Delwar and seven others on July 16, 2001.
