Border patrol to be strengthened to check smuggling of wet leather

A special meeting of the Ministry of Home Affairs yesterday decided to step up border patrol and implement the government's decision to check smuggling of wet leather from the country, an official press release said.

Chaired by Home Minister Altaf Hossain, the meeting was attended by Inspector General of Police Shaheedul Hoque, Director General of BDR (Bangladesh Rifles) Major General Jahangir Alam, and officials and representatives of the FBCCI (Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry), different chambers and associations involved in leather business.

The meeting recommended taking up special measures one month ahead of the next Eid-ul-Azha to check smuggling of wet leather and reviewed the progress of implementation of earlier decisions in this regard.
