Guard beaten to death inside office of ward commissioner

Abdul Hai alias Alim, 45, found lying unconscious, was rescued by Tejgaon police and sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). The on-duty doctors declared him dead at around 1:30 am.

According to the victim's son, Hai, another guard Alamgir and two other women had gone to a hotel in Colony Bazaar. They had their meal and left the hotel at around 10:00pm.

Later when the four went back to the ward commissioner's office premises, three youths -- Badu, Taher and Mainul -- caught Hai and beat him up. They also banged his head against a wall.

Alamgir managed to run away.

Police arrested Mainul.

Motiur Rahman, the victim's son, filed a case with the Tejgaon Police Station.
