Miscreants gouge out eyes of 2 in Pirojpur

According to police and hospital sources, a gang of eight abducted Kuddus, 40, and Jainul Hossain, 36, from village Chalitabunia of the upazila at noon and took them to Dhadibhanga Bazaar by a trawler.

The gang beat up the two and gouged their eyes out. Locals said the incident was a sequel to rivalry between the miscreants and the victims over the last Union Parishad election.

On information, police rushed to the spot, rescued the two and sent them to Mathbaria health complex. Sources said the victims were shifted to the Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital as their condition deteriorated.

No case was filed till filing of this report at 6pm yesterday.
