2 arrested for attack on Pirojpur BCL man

Police today arrested two of the 30 accused in a case filed for the attack on Shuvo Sharma Sheel, a local leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) in Pirojpur's Mathbaria upazila.

The arrestees are Fazle Rabbi and Mridul, reports our local correspondent quoting AJM Masud-Uj-Jaman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Mathbaria Police Station.

Mashiur Rahman Murtoza, upazila general secretary of BCL, filed the case against 30 people with the police station last night.

The 30 accused include Kamrul Ahmed Rashi, son of municipality mayor and upazila AL president, Rafiuddin Ahmed Ferdous.

Shuvo, general secretary of ward 3, Mathbaria unit Bangladesh Chhatra League, was injured during a clash over a local political conflict on Tuesday night.

Attackers reportedly severed his hand from his wrist. Police are trying to arrest the other accused in the case, the OC said.

Meanwhile, BCL cancelled their committee of Mathbaria municipality unit following the incident.
