11 spellers make it to TV round

Eleven more spellers made it to the TV round as the divisional round of the third season of The Daily Star Spelling Bee, hosted by Champs21.com and powered by Horlicks, continued yesterday in Chittagong.
A total of 310 students appeared for the screening test of the divisional round held at The Institute of Engineers Bangladesh, Chittagong. The screening test contained a written part and an oral one.
Based on the scores from the written part, 62 spellers were selected for the oral round. Finally, 11 students made it past the oral round, which is a knockout round.
At present, the Spelling Bee team is visiting all seven divisional cities of Bangladesh to conduct screening tests from where the top spellers of the country will be selected for the TV round.
The champion speller will win an education policy worth Tk 5 lakh sponsored by MetlifeAlico and a chance to visit Washington DC along with a parent. BSRM and Faber Castell are the two other sponsors this year.
