In Thakurgaon, three sisters are set to appear in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations, scheduled to begin tomorrow.

The triplets -- Swapnil Barman, Swarnali Barman and Sejuti Barman -- are students of Science Group at Thakurgaon Government Girls’ High School.

They are daughters of Thandaram Barman and Moyna Rani Sen of Salondar village in Thakurgaon Sadar upazila.

Talking about their preparations ahead of the exams, Swarnali told The Daily Star they are well-prepared and hopeful of achieving good results.

The other sisters echoed similar sentiments.

Speaking about their ambitions, Swapnil and Sejuti said they aspire to pursue higher education at a university, secure good positions in life, and support their family as well as others.

Swarnali said she wants to become a doctor to provide healthcare services, especially to people in rural areas.

In their leisure time, they enjoy reading novels and science fiction, with Muhammed Zafar Iqbal being one of their favourite authors.

They grew up in a cultural environment; their father is a permanent artiste of Bangladesh Betar in Thakurgaon.

The sisters can sing Rabindra Sangeet, as well as folk songs.

Their elder sister, a first-year student at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, guides them in their studies and monitors their lessons when she is home.

Their youngest sibling, a brother, started school this year.

Their parents said the triplets were born 18 months after their eldest daughter.

Despite their limited income, the parents said they are committed to continuing their daughters’ education as far as they wish to pursue it.
