Set to roll out across PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this March, "Project CARS" is the subject of a gorgeous new trailer that profiles some of the many vehicles and courses included as part of the package.

Crossing multiple motorsport disciplines, the game encompasses historic Formula 1, touring cars, endurance racing and modern NASCAR, with an extensive circuit roster that lifts its tracks from around the world.

Having raised €3.75m through a 2011 crowdfunding process, the game has maintained a philosophy of open development, asking its backers to get involved in testing and suggesting tweaks and improvements as the PC version has been built from the ground up.

Both online multiplayer and what it's calling a "freeform career mode" will be on offer, allowing players to participate in historic events and court sponsor endorsements along the way.

The game was initially scheduled for a November 2014 release but opted for March in order to allow for further polish -- and a bit of distance between itself and the likes of late 2014 releases "DriveClub," "The Crew" and "Forza Horizon 2" -- with Wii U and Linux versions still anticipated this year; the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 editions will be made available during the week of March 20.
