THE CHAOS IN GETTING CARE: Patients and their attendants sprint towards the National Institute of Ophthalmology and Hospital as its main gate opens at 7:00am, following an overnight wait for tickets and serial numbers. Many have travelled from distant districts, spending the entire night in difficult conditions outside the hospital, with some even setting up mosquito nets along the roadside to rest. By dawn, they are joined by patients from Dhaka, swelling the crowd before the gates open. The rush to secure treatment often turns chaotic, with some people falling and sustaining injuries.
