UGC to instruct all universities to ensure free Wi-Fi facilities
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has decided to instruct all public and private universities across Bangladesh to ensure the provision of free Wi-Fi facilities within the shortest possible time.
According to a press release, universities will, under an initial plan, be required to ensure free Wi-Fi coverage within 60 working days in key student areas, including libraries, common rooms and cafeterias. The Bangladesh Research and Education Network (bdREN) is expected to provide technical support for the implementation.
The decision was taken at a meeting held at the commission’s office on March 25. The initiative will be expanded in phases to include residential halls and other academic and research facilities, the commission said.
