Pinterest to layoff 15% of workforce

By Tech & Startup Desk

Social media company Pinterest announced it will cut under 15% of its workforce as part of a restructuring plan to reallocate resources toward its AI initiatives, as per a recent Reuters report.

The layoffs would affect fewer than 780 positions from a total of 5,205 employees, states the report. The company also plans to close smaller office spaces from past acquisitions. Pinterest expects to incur pre-tax restructuring charges between $35 million and $45 million and aims to complete the plan by the end of its third quarter.

The move is part of a broader trend in the tech industry, where companies are trimming other areas to fund AI investments. As per Reuters, design software firm Autodesk last week announced a 7% workforce reduction for similar reasons. According to the tracker Layoffs.fyi, tech companies laid off more than 123,000 employees in 2025.
