Bangladesh’s women’s side are slated to play the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka, scheduled to begin on July 19, with an eye on the upcoming T20 World Cup at home in October. The Tigresses, however, have a lot to work out in the meantime as they suffered a slump in recent times, with batting being their main concern in series losses to Australia and India at home. Head coach Hashan Tillakaratne talked about how the Tigresses can recover from this slump, and use their spin advantage and their target in the Asia Cup during an interview with The Daily Star’s Abdullah Al Mehdi. Pakistan women's cricket team raced to a five-wicket win in the first ODI of the three-match series after bundling out Bangladesh for 81 runs at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur today.

According to Joty, the series has given Bangladesh women's cricket a respectful a step forward. The skipper said that the players were able to grab the spotlight – the spotlight that was never on them before.

"It was a great match, a great experience. The way the girls fought; it was unbelievable. After the break, we were talking about the two ways the game would go - either we will go hard on them or they will. Nahida bowled really well. To all the bowlers, it was an excellent performance,” said Joty during post-match presentation

Fargana Hoque became the first Bangladeshi woman cricketer to score an ODI century during the third and final ODI against India at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur today. 

Three days after winning their first match in five years against India, Bangladesh women's cricket team today registered their maiden one-day international victory over their neighbours with a 40-run victory.  

Bangladesh restricted India to 95 for eight in 20 overs – India’s lowest score against the women in red and green – in the second T20I at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday.

“Lot of positives. I think this is the first time that they have a spin-bowling coach. For me, I want to make good spinners for world cricket. Not domestic cricket. Try to make them correct but it will take time. I used to work with Sri Lanka women’s and as you know in the subcontinent, both men’s and women’s spinners are doing really well.”
