The third day of the second Test, after the first two days were washed out, was like a rerun of the first innings of the first Test in Hamilton as despite a solid start from the openers, Bangladesh folded for a small total of 211 within the first two sessions against New Zealand at the Basin Reserve in Wellington yesterday.

Following a run of poor form after being brought into the ODI side as a replacement during the Asia Cup, Soumya Sarkar was dropped from the Bangladesh team for the three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe last year.

There was some of the fight, and a high-quality one at that, that supporters would have wanted to see from Bangladesh but it came too late to have any impact on the outcome in the first Test against New Zealand in Hamilton yesterday.

The first match of Bangladesh's three-match Test series against hosts New Zealand will begin today at the Seddon Park in Hamilton -- on a green-top that could see pacers dominate terms although the pitch is said to have something for both batsmen and bowlers.
