Crowds began gathering in the National Parliament complex area from Saturday (December 20) morning to attend the janaza of Inquilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi. His body was placed at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban around 2:00pm. The presence of hundreds of thousands of people, cutting across party lines, has since become a subject of widespread discussion.

Bangladesh batter Tawhid Hridoy paid an emotional tribute to Sharif Osman Hadi following the latter’s burial on Saturday, remembering the Inqilab Moncho spokesperson and frontline figure of the July uprising through a heartfelt Facebook post.

Noted singer Kanak Chapa has strongly condemned the recent violence and unrest surrounding the death of Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, saying those responsible for attacks, vandalism and arson in the country’s art, literature and cultural spheres can never represent his ideals.
