Bangladesh cricket team may have been replaced by Scotland in the upcoming T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka, but two Bangladeshi umpires will be part of the umpiring panel for the 20-team tournament, scheduled to begin on February 7.

Jaiswal’s dismissal proved decisive as India collapsed, losing their final four wickets for just 15 runs to be bowled out for 155.

“It is a great honour to be named on the ICC Elite Panel. To be the first from my country on the panel makes it extra special,” Sharfuddoula was quoted in an ICC media release.

Sharfuddoula is set to be the second Bangladeshi umpire to officiate a Test match on foreign soil.  

Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid, set to become the first Bangladeshi to umpire a World Cup match, said his breakthrough appointment was due to years of facing negative commentary with quiet determination.
