Bangladesh Test and T20I skipper Shakib Al Hasan has pledged to donate Tk 20,000 for tomorrow’s iftar for the victims of the fire that broke out in the Bangabazar complex in the Gulistan area earlier on Tuesday.

Former Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza said today that he was in favour of giving a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to three cricketers—Shakib Al Hasan, Liton Das and Mustafizur Rahman, for playing in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL).

A day ahead of the third and final ODI against Ireland on Thursday, the Tigers showed up to practice but two familiar faces, Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim, were not amongst the group that trained.

Bangladesh head coach Chandika Hathurusingha lauded the Tigers’ ODI and Test skipper Shakib Al Hasan for reaching the milestone of 7000 ODI runs in ODIs, saying that had the premier all-rounder played in conditions like England, Australia, or even India, he would have scored around 12,000 runs in the 50-over format.

Shakib was asked how he managed to keep up with all his responsibilities on and off the field and the star cricketer replied with a smile: ‘Whoever is capable can do it all.’
