Roy also expressed hope for greater institutional support. “Shahnewaz Kakoli is a National Film Award recipient. When an artiste, filmmaker, or anyone from the acting profession receives a national award, they become a national asset. In such cases, the government should come forward.”

Pran Roy described Kakoli’s current condition, stating that she is still unable to walk and cannot move her left arm or leg. She also suffers from severe pain in her hand, which doctors are working to alleviate.

According to Pran Roy, Kakoli’s treatment currently costs more than Tk 8,000 per day. The stroke has left one side of her face partially paralysed, and she is still unable to speak normally.
