After nearly two years of being stalled by censorship hurdles, filmmaker Raihan Rafi’s web film “Omimangshito” has finally been released. The thriller began streaming on the iScreen platform from 7 pm on Monday and is available to viewers both in Bangladesh and abroad through subscription.

Tension-filled web film “Omimangshito” is set to premiere on OTT platform iScreen today. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Raihan Rafi, the film has already generated strong curiosity following the release of its trailer.

“Omimangshito”, Raihan Rafi’s long-delayed web film based on the mysterious murder of a journalist couple, is finally set for release this December on OTT platform iScreen.

The film, which had previously been blocked by the former censor board due to its resemblance to the real-life double murder of journalist couple Sagar Sarowar and Meherun Runi, now holds a formal certificate for public screening.

The Vicky Zahed-directed film, titled “Andhokarer Gaan”, revolves around a love story at its core. Apu plays the son of a wealthy man, a young individual struggling with drug addiction.

Following a hiatus of nearly six weeks, Tanzika Amin is back on set, shooting for a new series on MaasrangaTelevision. Directed by Nazrul Islam Raju, this drama highlights the complexities of city life. 

The Bangladesh Film Censorship Board (BFCB) halted the screening of Raihan Rafi’s film "Omimangshito" on OTT platform iScreen, citing concerns that it was unsuitable for public viewing. 

Numerous films faced bans during the previous administration, with some caught up in legal disputes while others were shelved for unexplained reasons. Producers voiced their frustration over films stalled in the censor board's approval process, but their protests yielded no resolution. For years, filmmakers have called for the abolition of the censor board in favour of a system of censor certification. 

Upon receiving the concerning letter today noon, the director of the web-film, Raihan Rafi, pressed home his protest and concern over the undue censorship of the film’s content, stating it is against the creative freedom of filmmakers.

The release of the Raihan Rafi directorial much-anticipated film "Omimangshito" has been halted by the Bangladesh Film Censor Board due to allegations of depicting real-life gruesome murder incidents.

Various individuals contribute perspectives to the murder investigation report, yet these journalists remain blindfolded. A reporter suggests the murder occurred at approximately 2:30am. While a third speculates that the motive behind the murder is connected to foreign influences. Meanwhile, a news report suggests that the victims may have taken their lives.

“Damal” director and the cast for the new web-film have been tight-lipped about “Omimagshito”. Albeit, Raihan Rafi did share that he is currently invested in a new project.
