Amnesty International has warned that Bangladesh could face serious human rights abuses unless Meta, the parent company of Facebook, takes timely and effective action to address harmful content on its platform.

Meta Platforms Inc (META.O) is planning to begin large-scale layoffs this week that will affect thousands of employees, the Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday citing people familiar with the matter, with an announcement planned as early as Wednesday.

Many women have shunned the male-dominated social network because they're worried about their safety and privacy, according to the Meta research, which hasn't been previously reported.
