Bangladesh has secured a major achievement at the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) 2026, as political thriller "Master", directed by Rezwan Shahriar Sumit, won the Big Screen Award in the festival’s prestigious Big Screen Competition section.

The 55th edition of the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) is currently underway in the Dutch city of Rotterdam, with three Bangladeshi films selected for the festival this year. Among them, Rezwan Shahriar Sumit’s political thriller “Master” had its international premiere on February 2.

In “Master”, Mamo plays a character named Jhorna — a role she says she thoroughly enjoyed inhabiting. “I really liked playing this character. There was scope to perform, to explore,” she shared. “Everyone involved in the film has done a wonderful job. Each actor gave their best from their own place.”

Three Bangladeshi films—“Delupi”, “Roid” and “Master”—have been selected across three sections of the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) this year, marking the first time three local productions have featured together at a major international festival.
