Around 60 percent of mobile phones currently used in Bangladesh are operating illegally, according to the Mobile Industry Owners’ Association of Bangladesh (MIOB), which has warned that the growing grey market is putting legitimate manufacturers and government revenues at risk.

The rule will not affect devices already in use or phones bought before December 16.

A team of CMP also recovered 342 stolen mobile phones of various brands, six laptops, and a large amount of cash
