A little over three weeks into the talks between the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding the former’s request to relocate Bangladesh’s T20 World Cup matches from India, where do both parties stand?

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) media committee chairman Amjad Hossain on Monday dismissed media reports claiming that the International Cricket Council (ICC) had set a January 21 deadline to decide Bangladesh’s participation in the 2026 T20 World Cup.

An ESPNcricinfo report on Sunday claimed that a final decision on Bangladesh’s participation in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup -- co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka and scheduled to begin on February 7 -- will be made by January 21.

Zimbawbe are in Group B alongside Australia, Ireland, Oman and Sri Lanka.

BCB had sent a second letter to the ICC outlining its security concerns about sending the Bangladesh contingent to India, as the ICC had asked it to do in response to the board’s first letter seeking relocation.

The tournament will begin on February 7.
