The demand for jewellery has plummeted in Bangladesh due to the record high prices of gold, ongoing political uncertainty and rising living costs, according to market players.

Jewellers today raised the price of 22-carat gold to Tk 104,626 per bhori, a new high

A bhori of 22-carat gold will cost Tk 99,377 from October 12

From tomorrow, prices of each bhori of gold will be Tk 98,210

22-carat gold will be Tk 99,960 a bhori from tomorrow

The rate will be effective from tomorrow

Gold price is going to hit Tk 90,714 per bhori, the highest in the history of Bangladesh, as Bangladesh Jewellers' Association (Bajus) decided to hike prices of the precious metal by 3 per cent from tomorrow. 

Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (BAJUS) threatens to close down all jewellery shops indefinitely if their three-point demand is not entitled in the upcoming annual budget.
