Gas supply to thousands of homes in different parts of the capital came to a complete or partial halt yesterday morning after a key valve on a distribution line burst.

Similar low gas pressure is expected in Savar and Hemayetpur on the outskirts of the capital

This means the country's current supply of around 2,700 mmcfd now which will reduce to 2,500 mmcfd

The acute gas crisis, which has been plaguing the industrial sector and households, is unlikely to see a drastic improvement anytime soon.

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Nasrul Hamid, today said power generation is facing disruption due to a shortage in gas supply.
