Sabuj Khan’s Bangladeshi film “Behula Dorodi”, starring Fazlur Rahman Babu, Reshma Ahmed and Ashraful Ashish, will have its premiere at the festival today. The festival will conclude today with the announcement of winners and an award-giving ceremony.

The fourth day of the 24th Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) offers one of its busiest schedules, blending Bangladeshi cinema with films from Asia and Europe. Today’s lineup spans China, Iran, Turkey, Argentina, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Azerbaijan, Singapore, the UK, Sweden, Italy, Laos, and Kazakhstan—turning Dhaka into a crossroads of world cinema for a single day.

Today’s highlight from Bangladesh Panorama Full Length Section is Mousumi Hamid starrer “Noya Manush” directed by Sohel Rana Boyati. Today, there will be a total of 13 films at the Bangladesh National Museum Main Auditorium, National Museum- Sufia Kamal Auditorium, Shahbagh, seven films at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, National Art Gallery Auditorium, 4 films at Alliance Francaise de Dhaka and 9 films at Stamford University, Bangladesh Auditorium, Siddeswari Road.

Running from January 10 to 18, the nine-day festival is screening 245 films from 91 countries, making it one of the largest global film showcases in Bangladesh.

Following the government’s decision last December to withhold permission for nearly a dozen concerts by foreign artists due to the country’s overall situation, questions naturally arose about the fate of the Dhaka festival.

This year’s panel includes renowned Bangladeshi actress and director Afsana Mimi, who will evaluate films alongside creative professionals from four other countries.

Under the banner “Aesthetic films, thoughtful audiences, enlightened society,” this edition will screen 250 films from 75 countries, including 67 from Bangladesh.

Bangladeshi film “Betar” (Radio) has been officially selected for the West Meets East Screenplay Lab 2026, set to be held from January 11 to 14 as part of the 24th Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF). The lab will feature ten international projects.

Open to filmmakers from across Asia, the lab will select ten finalists whose screenplays will be mentored by international experts during the festival. The top three scripts will receive development funding of TK 500,000, 300,000, and 200,000 respectively.

The closing ceremony, which will be held on January 19 at the National Museum, will be attended by Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki.

The festival is set to kick off with the screening of the Chinese film “Moon Man” (directed by Zhang Chiyu), a 2022 science fiction comedy that follows the story of the "last human in the universe" stranded on the moon after an asteroid wipes out life on Earth. With a worldwide gross of over $460 million, "Moon Man" is a box-office sensation, and the opening screening promises to be an exciting start to the festival.

Renowned actors Ilias Kanchan and Azmeri Haque Badhan have been appointed as members of two different jury boards for the 23rd edition of the Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) next year. 

Azmeri Haque Badhan, known for her powerful portrayals of female characters such as Rehana in “Rehana Maryam Noor” and Sultana in “Guti”, is an active advocate for women's rights.
