The Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) of the Indian High Commission hosted a meticulously curated “Lalon Sandhya” at the Liberation War Museum auditorium, presenting an evening where music, philosophy, and memory intersected.

The Ministry of Cultural Affairs has turned this remembrance into a national homage — a three-day festival from October 17 to 19 at Lalon’s resting ground in Cheuriya. There will be music, discourse, and a fair that carries the rhythm of his spirit.

A grand tribute to the late Lalon singer Farida Parveen will unfold in New York this October, as the “International Lalon Festival 2025” prepares to celebrate the timeless philosophy and music of Fakir Lalon Shah.

Lalon is an exemplary anti-casteist, anti-patriarchal, anti-colonial figure in undivided Bengal in the19th century.
