Sylhet bomb blasts in 2005: JMB leader gets life term
A court in Sylhet today sentenced a man to life term imprisonment in a case filed over a series of bomb blasts in the city's Kadamtali Bus Terminal on August 17, 2005.
Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Mominunnessa delivered the verdict in presence of the convict Abdul Aziz alias Hanif, a leader of the banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), said Advocate Jubayer Bakth, assistant public prosecutor of the court.
On August 17 in 2005, as part of the countrywide series bomb blasts by JMB, bombs went off in 13 places of Sylhet district including the bus terminal, Sylhet court and other important places.
In the blasts, no one died in Sylhet but a judge of speedy trial tribunal of Sylhet were among 15 injured.
