A voice for mother nature: Shah Israt Azmery’s green mission

She believes in focusing all of her efforts on some key changes that will have a lasting, sustainable impact on society as a whole.

Shah Israt Azmery, Chairman of the Children Watch Foundation, has long been a champion for children's rights — but her advocacy doesn't stop there. With a firm belief that a healthy planet is essential for a healthy future, Azmery has increasingly turned her focus toward environmental awareness, especially among the youth.

"Children are the most vulnerable to the consequences of environmental neglect, yet they are also the most powerful agents of change," she shares. Through her foundation, she has led school-based campaigns on climate action, tree plantation drives, and eco-education programs that encourage children to think green from an early age. She believes that when we teach the right mindset from the get-go, we can play a major role in shaping the world for future generations.

One of the major differences of Children Watch Foundation is that it relies on no international funding. It is run on a combination of self-funding and some funding from local benefactors. Israt also collaborates with local NGOs where relevant and necessary.

Azmery applauds platforms that uplift changemakers, citing bti The Daily Star Stellar Women as a "timely and vital initiative." "When women's work, especially in non-traditional spaces like environmental activism is celebrated publicly, it sends a powerful message. It inspires confidence, not only in the ones being featured, but also in every girl watching."

Azmery has a strong set of supporters in her family, friends, coworkers, and mentors. She agrees that to effect positive changes in our patriarchal society, women and men must work collaboratively to make the most of any challenging situation.

She believes in focusing all of her efforts on some key changes that will have a lasting, sustainable impact on society as a whole.

Her advice to young women entering the field? "Don't wait for permission to lead. Whether it's organizing a clean-up or launching a sustainability campaign, your voice and ideas matter. Start small, stay consistent, and keep learning."

With quiet determination and a fierce sense of responsibility, Shah Israt Azmery is sowing the seeds for a greener tomorrow — one young mind at a time. We have our eyes set on what Azmery and her team of talented individuals can do for the collective good of the community, as well as humanity.
