Lal Sabuj Society has expanded from a local initiative into a nationwide platform, now working across 32 districts of Bangladesh.

The organisation began in May 2010 in Barishal with the launch of The Monthly Lal Sabuj, a magazine for children. In 2013, it organised dialogue sessions between children and mayoral candidates during city corporation elections.

In 2015, the group was formally established as the Lal Sabuj Foundation. It was later registered as Lal Sabuj Society under the Social Welfare Department in 2019.

Lal Sabuj Society works in areas including climate action, mental health, skills development, protection and safety. Its projects include climate initiatives in flood-prone regions, mental health awareness programmes, leadership and digital skills workshops, and self-defence training for girls.

The organisation now operates with more than 2,500 young volunteers alongside a professional team. It says its programmes have reached 178,478 people across the country.

“Bangladesh is experiencing its demographic dividend and our young people hold immense potential,” said Tahsin Uddin, president of Lal Sabuj Society.
