Burhan Aftermath
The 2016 unrest in Kashmir, also known as the Burhan aftermath, led to a series of violent protests in the Muslim-majority Kashmir Valley in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. It began with the killing of Burhan Wani, a militant commander of the Kashmir-based Hizbul Mujahideen by Indian security forces on 8 July 2016. After his killing, protests started in all 10 districts of Kashmir valley. An imposition of a curfew was defied and there were reports of attacks on security forces and vandalism. The riot police, consisting of Jammu and Kashmir Police and Indian para-military forces, used pellet guns, tear gas shells, and rubber bullets and also live ammunition on the protesters, resulting in the death of one policeman and more than 50 protesters while over 1,300 were injured. It has been a topic of concern for many on social media.
Closing All Restaurants!
After the 1/7 Gulshan attacks, restaurants in residential areas have been asked to either move or close down. Restaurants all around the city- Dhanmondi, Gulshan, Lalmatia, Banani- have been packing up their utensils and pulling the shutters down. This move has raised a serious question amongst social media users- where will the employees go? With all the restaurants having many staff-members, cooks and waiters, people are in a dilemma about whether they will have a place to go, a means of livelihood? Will steps be taken for rehabilitating them?

Interview in Hindi
Very recently, BBC India did a news piece on Bangladesh, the recent terror attacks and private universities- linking the three together. The University of Liberal Arts, Bangladesh, was where the news began, with interviews of students where they shared their thoughts on the matter. The interviewer asked the questions in Hindi, and the interviewees responded in the same language. People bombarded social media with questions. Some wondered why the interviewees could not answer in English, while others questioned what was wrong with knowing another language. The debates are still on-going!
