Food and water sources of about 40 families of the remote Lama upazila of Bandarban were destroyed in a fire on April 26 by Lama Rubber Industries Limited. Residents of the affected Mro neighborhood alleged that Lama Rubber Industries Limited set fire to the hills to grab the land. However, the company officials denied the allegations of setting fire, saying they had only cleared the mountains.
