Brazilian football legend Ronaldinho said the Argentine World Cup winner Lionel Messi remains the best player in the world even at the age of 38.

“He [Messi] is still the best in the world. I hope he arrives in good form at the World Cup and does awesome things for us fans,” Ronaldinho said while speaking with Ole.

Ronaldinho chose Messi over the likes of Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe, his countryman Vinicius Jr and Spanish booter Lamine Yamal, who are currently the biggest faces in European football.

The Brazlian icon shares a special bond with Messi, who made his way into the Barcelona main team when Ronaldinho was the biggest star of the side.

Ronaldinho has long since retired from the game and Messi is currently playing for Inter Miami in the Major League Soccer (MLS), gearing up for what will most likely be his last ever World Cup.

The Brazilian World Cup winner revealed he and Messi still share a special relation, saying, “Whenever we have the chance to be together, it’s a great pleasure.”

Ronaldinho also expects that upcoming World Cup in the USA, Mexico and Canada will be a well-contested one, saying, “All the teams are very strong, it’s going to be even more exciting.”
