Bangladesh finish seventh after 3-0 win over Thailand
Bangladesh finished seventh in the men’s hockey competition at the Asian Games after beating Thailand 3-0 in the seventh-place playoff at the Gifu Prefectural Green Stadium in Japan today.
Bangladesh took the lead as early as the third minute when Roman Sarker found the net. The early goal gave Peter Gerhard’s side momentum, and they continued to play on the front foot throughout the first quarter.
Bangladesh doubled their advantage in the second half, with Amirul Islam converting a penalty corner in the 27th minute to make it 2-0.
Ashraful Islam then sealed the victory from a penalty stroke in the 53rd minute, putting Bangladesh three goals ahead.
Thailand could not find a response as Bangladesh held on to their 3-0 lead until the final whistle.
